There are many things to see and do in Iqaluit. There are many recreational activities like fishing and hiking, boating, snowmobiling, hunting, dog sledding, kite skiing, river rafting and more.
Iqaluit is an exciting place to be, especially during the spring and summer. There are many festivals and events that happen including: The Toonik Tyme Festival, Inuumariit Music Festival, Rockin' Walrus Arts Festival and the Alianait Arts Festival.

Toonik Tyme Festival
The Toonik Tyme festival happens during April, when students have their spring break. It is a week long event to celebrate spring with competitions, a feast, a craft fair and more. The festival starts off with the lighting of the quilliq, which is the traditional lamp used for cooking and heating. Bannock baking, ice golfing, ice sculpting, seal skinning and igloo building are all examples of competitions that are held during this festival. There are also performances of Inuit throat singing, which is a musical performance that is found only among the Inuit. Visit the official Toonik Tyme website here.
Inuumariit Music Festival
The Inuumariit Music festival is held every year at the Mark Kalluak Hall. It features many musical performances of Iqaluit.
Rockin' Walrus Arts Festival
The Rockin' Walrus Arts Festival is held mid-late June. There is music, dance, acrobatics and theatre performances.
Alianait Arts Festival
The Alianait Arts festival is a summertime event that happens during late June or early July. It includes music, theatre, film, circus acts and storytelling.
